Although I realize that everyone who visits this site has very different lives, beliefs, and experiences. We all have one commonality that will always bring us together, the fact that we all have attended school. Whether some of us have attended Elementary School, High School, College, University, Trades School, etc. We have all been impacted by the education system in some way, shape, or form. One of the most common forms of the education system that impacts is educators. Most students when asked about their schooling recall educators who helped them grow, learn, and achieve their goals. Without teachers, self-taught educators, and teachers’ aide’s; the education systems wouldn’t be able to support the variety of diverse learners. However, although the positions in the education field in British Columbia and abroad have been female-dominated there is barely any history written on female educators. As a female history student and future teacher I was intrigued by this topic and wished to learn more. I wanted to uncover the untold history of female educators and the important roles they played in their students’ lives. This led me to wonder, Who were some successful female educators in the local context of Mission, BC? What were these educators remembered for? How did these educators make their students and co-workers feel? And were there any similarities between these important female educators? This website hopes to uncover these questions and “Fill in the blank” of female history in the local context of Mission.
